Silk Jackets

Isn’t it marvelous that there is beauty and abundance even in the middle of a cold winter day.  While I was taking a walk, I kept noticing these branches with black berries on them.  Every bush and tree had long lost their leaves and every branch was bare.  But, here were these branches that had such beauty.  I then began to notice that the birds were eating the berries.  The birds were enjoying a plentiful meal as the snow was falling from the heavens.

Fantasy….Moonlight Cattails

It was such a lovely fall evening to take a short walk to just be with myself and be in the moment.  Life was becoming routine and without any spark to light up my eyes with excitement or promise.  As I came around a corner, there in the sky was the brightest harvest moon coming up over the horizon.  In a small pond, by the path, stood these magnificent brown cattails.  The moonlight seemed to illuminate them with a warm blanket of soft light that made them glow.  What a lovely analogy for my life.  Just when I think there is no light in my life, I find it takes only a little soft light to make things look beautiful again in its own way.  May the beauty of the moon’s soft light, illumine the softness that is in your spirit to show the beauty within so others can see you “glow”.

What a magical day, sunshine, birds, endless trails to hike with the companionship of my handsome lover. Life can be sweet!  It was one of those special days that I can look back on with a sigh, remembering with a big happy smile.  I came across these tall & majestic cattails. They were growing in a beautiful valley of red rocks and trees by a little stream.  I captured them immediately with my camera so I could later paint them and preserve their beauty.

Cattails remind me of the promise of spring, fertility and endurance.  Inside each cattail is more than a thousand seeds of promises; each bringing a new life, in the cattail chain of promise.  In the winter of their lives they need to break apart at the seams to give forth life.

How can I give out of my seeds of promise and possibilities in my life?  Can I ‘burst’ at the seams to sprinkle my possibilities into the world?  Surely something I will ponder.










FANTASY…..Phoenix Jacket

Have you ever had something not turn out the way you wanted it to?  This jacket started out white with a beautiful floral design in pastel colors.  Many hours were spent on the design and I was so excited that it was turning out the way I envisioned.  Then, in the process of finishing it, color spots appeared in the white fabric ruining the design.  My belief is that nothing is ever ruined, so I just thought I would have fun with it and see what magic could happen.  I amerced the whole jacket into black dye.  The process I used made the jacket emerge into something totally different.  What was surprising was the original design was still there under the black dye.  That is why I’ve named the jacket, “Phoenix” because it was truly raised from ashes (the meaning of the word).

May you truly experience a beauty from the energy of ‘new beginnings from ashes (or disappointments)’ when you wear this jacket.
